Accessibility Statement for Chadwicks Group

Chadwicks Group is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

Compliance status

Based on our latest audit, this website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Most core user journeys meet Level AA success criteria. Some third-party components and legacy content may not yet fully meet the guidelines (see “Known limitations”).

What we’ve put in place

  • Semantic structure: Pages use a single <h1> and logical heading order.
  • Skip link: A Skip to main content link is available at the start of each page and targets #main-content.
  • Keyboard support: All interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard. Visible focus styles are provided.
  • Colour & contrast: Text and UI element contrast is designed to meet or exceed 4.5:1, with accessible alternatives for brand colours where needed.
  • Images & media: Informative images include alternative text; decorative images are marked accordingly.
  • Links & documents: Links describe their destination. Non-HTML resources (e.g. PDF) are labelled “(PDF)” and when opened in a new tab this is indicated.
  • Responsive layout: Content reflows on small screens and supports browser zoom and OS-level magnification.

Known limitations

We are working to resolve the following:

  • Cookie consent dialog: Our cookie banner is provided by a third-party (CookieFirst). In some automated tests it may trigger an ARIA advisory. We have reported this to the vendor and monitor updates.
  • Historic documents: Some legacy PDFs may not be fully tagged for accessibility. Where possible we will replace these with accessible HTML pages or updated, tagged PDFs.

Technical information

This site is designed to be compatible with the latest versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and with assistive technologies on desktop and mobile devices. Some features may not work as intended on very old browsers that do not support modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

How we test this website

  • Automated tests: Google Lighthouse and WAVE are used to detect common issues.
  • Manual checks: Keyboard-only navigation, screen-reader spot checks, and visual contrast reviews.
  • Release process: New components are reviewed against WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria.
