13.02.19: Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI), Ireland’s leading building merchanting company, announced this morning that a team of 22 people from the organisation will take on the Four Peaks Challenge in a bid to raise much needed funds for Focus Ireland, CMRF Crumlin, Pieta House and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. The four charities selected were chosen by colleagues at Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI).

The Four Peaks Challenge will see all 22 Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) participants climbing the highest mountain in each of the four provinces in four days. The 22-strong Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) team will travel across the country as part of their mountain ascension challenge. The route they will navigate will be Slieve Donard in Co. Down; Lugnaquilla in Co. Wicklow; Carrauntoohil in Co. Kerry and Mweelrea in Co. Mayo.

The challenge will take place from the 2nd to 5th of May, with Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) hoping to raise in excess of €40,000 for the four charities that have been chosen with great care. They are as follows: As the homelessness crisis worsens in Ireland, 6,000 people in Ireland are considered homeless, Focus Ireland are on the frontline changing lives daily, challenging homelessness and supporting those most at risk.

The monies raised for CMRF Crumlin will go towards the Diabetes Clinic which provides necessary treatment for children.

Pieta House provides specialised treatment programmes for people who have suicidal ideation and supports for families affected.

Ireland has the highest incidence of Cystic Fibrosis in the world. More than 1,200 people in Ireland suffer from the disease. CF Ireland was set up 1963 to improve the treatment and facilities for people with Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland.

The team at Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) have already started training for the demanding four-day challenge and the fundraising drive for the €40,000 is underway.

The 4 Peaks Challenge team at Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) Ireland were also absolutely delighted that former Irish rugby player, Ronan O’Gara, showed his support at the launch of their May initiative.

Speaking about the challenge, Patrick Atkinson, CEO, Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) commented: “I am proud to announce that in May 2019, Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) is aiming to raise important funds for four richly deserving charities in Ireland, by undertaking the Four Peaks Challenge. Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) has a long and proud history of working with and donating to charities who raise funds for those most in need in Ireland. This year, a team of 22 people from Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI) will attempt to climb four mountains in four days with a goal of raising €40,000 plus for CMRF Crumlin, Pieta House, Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and Focus Ireland. On behalf of all the team here in Chadwicks Group (formerly GMROI), I would like to wish the chosen team of 22 employees well in this endeavour and encourage anyone and donate to this worthy cause.”
